Tech and Stuff

We build bikes a little differently. Every part of our frames is made right here, often on tools we designed and built ourselves. If there isn’t a jig or machine for the job, we figure out how to make one. We think a lot of those solutions are cool, clever and interesting, and we think it's fun to share them. We love touring other makers shops and seeing how they do things, and we want to share our stuff too.

Our ideas come from all over. We’ve borrowed tricks from aerospace composites, rally racing garages, and some of the best carbon bike builders in the world. Then we mash them together, test them, break them, and rebuild until they work for the unique mix of wood, carbon fiber, and Kevlar we use in our frames.

A lot of that approach comes from Scott. Manufacturing is part of his teaching portfolio at Oregon State, which means he’s spent years running machines, experimenting with materials, and showing students how to turn ideas into real parts. That experience, and his own restless curiosity, has shaped how we build today.

This part of the site is where we share that side of the process. You’ll find blog posts, deep dives into the tech, and stories about the oddball tools and methods we’ve developed along the way. It’s the behind-the-scenes stuff that makes a Celilo what it is.
